YIN YOGA IMMERSIONS.
practice with ddfd.
As the sun sets on the last Friday of every month, DDFD offers restorative yin yoga in aid of animal shelters. Everybody, with all levels of yoga experience, is welcome to join us on a monthly basis to tune out the world and turn inwards to the breath and body.
Yin is a slow, melty, restorative yoga practice designed to calm the nervous system through holding poses for an extended period of time using the support of props. While all yoga emphasises the synergy between breath and mindful movement, yin's soothing, slow stretches create space to restore the mind and body.
You can register for this month's yin immersion here. Registration and a donation of minimum R 150 secures your place in our space, with all proceeds going to animal shelters.

BENEFITS OF YIN YOGA?
here's why you should practice yin.
stretch
As well as delivering a juicy muscle stretch, yin targets deeper connective tissue - fascia, joints, and ligaments. Lengthening connective tissue enhances flexibility and mobility.
breathe
Intentional breathwork enriches oxygenation of cells throughout the body. In turn, this promotes more effective blood circulation.
mindfulness
Research continues to demonstrate that mindful practices improve cognitive function, emotional processing, stress reduction, and immune response.
recover
Yin stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (the opposite of the fight-or-flight response). This lowers blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol (stress hormone) release, which aids recovery from physical and mental stress.
SLOW DOWN AND WARM UP
Winter is here - it's time to get cosy, rest, and restore. To slow down and warm up. And what better way to do that than with some kittens and pups?
To celebrate the anniversary of a whole decade since the first Downward Dog for Dogs event, we're throwing our biggest event yet with LUSH and Stronger Together to help warm up cold pups - and for the first time, we're inviting kittens to join the party at a session!
Join us on Sunday 31 May at 9:30am for the ultimate self-care session, all in aid of animals!
▸ elaxing yoga with the puppies of TEARS Animal Welfare
▸ Cut and carve your own LUSH soap
▸ Receive heavenly LUSH hand massages
▸ Thrift adorable clothes - shopping is self-care, and all proceeds go to TEARS!
▸ Sip on Sjoe! - a healthy and delicious concoction of rooibos, electrolytes, and creatine
▸ Snack on Okja pastries
and just generally have a great time in the epic Origin Art Gallery (Waterfront) before Dezemba gets too wild!
As the beneficiary, TEARS will receive all of the funds generated by this event. Your minimum donation of R 200 will support the shelter in the incredible work they do to rescue, protect, and rehome animals. You might even find your new best friend to adopt! Please note that donations are non-refundable.
