YIN YOGA IMMERSIONS.

practice with ddfd.

As the sun sets on the last Friday of every month, DDFD offers restorative yin yoga in aid of animal shelters. Everybody, with all levels of yoga experience, is welcome to join us on a monthly basis to tune out the world and turn inwards to the breath and body.

Yin is a slow, melty, restorative yoga practice designed to calm the nervous system through holding poses for an extended period of time using the support of props.  While all yoga emphasises the synergy between breath and mindful movement, yin's soothing, slow stretches create space to restore the mind and body.

You can register for this month's yin immersion here. Registration and a donation of minimum R 150 secures your place in our space, with all proceeds going to animal shelters.

BENEFITS OF YIN YOGA?

here's why you should practice yin.

stretch

As well as delivering a juicy muscle stretch, yin targets deeper connective tissue - fascia, joints, and ligaments. Lengthening connective tissue enhances flexibility and mobility.

breathe

Intentional breathwork enriches oxygenation of cells throughout the body. In turn, this promotes more effective blood circulation.

mindfulness

Research continues to demonstrate that mindful practices improve cognitive function, emotional processing, stress reduction, and immune response.

recover

Yin stimulates the parasympathetic nervous system (the opposite of the fight-or-flight response). This lowers blood pressure, heart rate, and cortisol (stress hormone) release, which aids recovery from physical and mental stress.
